Three-dimensional virtual surgical treatment planning in orthognathic surgery and reconstructive surgery with the use of patient-specific solutions has undergone a tremendous development during the last decade. These new technologies are intended to optimize predictable transmission of the treatment plan and accurate intraoperative repositioning of the bony segments to obtain an optimal aesthetic and functional outcome in orthognathic surgery and reconstructive surgery. However, does these patient-specific solutions improve the accuracy and stability of the surgical procedure and what are the future possibilities with these patients-specific solutions. Beside these two topics, patient-specific facial transformation surgery is another indication where patient’s pre-and post-surgical regimens will be shown using custom made guides and implants.
In the present course, the current knowledge and future possibilities regarding patient-specific solutions in orthognathic surgery, reconstructive surgery as well as transformation surgery will be present including a discussion of the accuracy and stability of these new technologies.
